Uniformed IFL members in Germany for the 1935 Reichsparteitag.
Ben Barrett from West London is on the far right
Note that the IFL was formed in 1928 whereas the British Union of Fascists, led by Sir Oswald Mosley, wasn't formed until October 1932.
The article below comes from The Fascist, October 1933:
OWING to the fact that Sir Oswald Mosley's newly-born " British Union of Fascists " with its pro-Jew policy has adopted the Black Shirt, we often have to undergo the humiliation of being mistaken for members of it; it is necessary therefore, whilst remaining a thorn in the side of Judaic Fascism until it collapses from its own internal rottenness, to make it clear to the public that we have no connection whatever with that organisation.Note: These armlets could be purchased from the IFL for 1/6 (1/7½ post free).
It has, therefore, been decided that in the Imperial Fascist League, the Black Shirt will be worn only by members of the Guard and by other Fascists who joined the organisation before 15th September, 1933. Other Members not in these two categories, will wear on duty, an armlet consisting of a Union Jack with a superimposed Swastika, on the left arm.
IFL armband - a lot of members made their own, like the one above
The article in The Fascist ends with the words:
AND NOW, COME ON, SIR OSWALD AND IMITATE US AGAIN - BUT WITHOUT THE SWASTIKA ! ! !
